[He reads it over once; reads it over a second time. For how little Kimbley interacts, he's still one of them. His absences haven't changed that, nor has his stance. Whether they followed a God or not, his have always had that choice: the ability to decide where they go, what they do, done without question.]

[But now. Oh, now - ]

[The delay in the message is a telling pause. Inside the safe house, the old broiler hidden in the basement begins to swell. The pipes attached give off a high-tuned whine; as if the pressure is building, mounting, to a force far beyond what it can handle.]

Make sure his body is brought back. [On the line, Greed's voice is uncharacteristically short. It's hard not to imagine: the points of his teeth exposing under a high-rise lip. The circles of his eyes quickly mounting to a wicked sort of red. The recording frazzles for a moment or two and in those few, fateful seconds, what comes through is nothing short of a blister. The melt of plastic turning the frequency alarmingly out of tune.]

[A single bubble pops in the receiver.] Get back here when you can. Need you to take over and see if anything's turned up at the 'Nest. [An order now, as plain as day. No, the circumstances aren't idea. What little choice they've had, it's now been stripped.]

[And there's only one source he can properly blame.]

[Normally, he'd drop everything and come back right on cue. But he's already stepped deep enough into the water that it's closed over his head, by killing Kimbley. Or truly: by killing Kimbley and finding himself having judged wrong.]

[It's not a question of redeeming himself for killing Kimbley. Stocke's always been willing (perhaps too willing) to take blame. But...]

[Call it a sunk cost fallacy. One on the scale of lives.]

[It's not unusual to get a brisk answer from the other: he's still as precise as he ever was. However, given the circumstances, there's no denying that this? It wasn't exactly planned.]

[The receiver clicks and on the other end, a crackle of a cigarette plumes into the recording. His inhale drawing its tip to a bright, papery-crinkle.] Oi, oi -

Don't do anything brash. [Greed starts. What's left unsaid should be easy to enough for Stocke to read. Despite the bite to his words, despite the vicious snap of his teeth, there's a clear distinction. A fine note written between the lines:]

[That snarl? It's not intended for Stocke.]

[The cigarette smolders close by and with it, the Sin's exhale wheezes through his teeth; the sound like that of a pressurized vat finally letting off some steam.] Don't think that's true, hmn? Not that I can entirely blame you, but going off like that -

[A beat. Greed's teeth audibly clack on the line.] - doesn't matter.

[There's a sense of a bite in his tone. Stocke would have killed Kimbley for only one, particular reason. If there had been a choice, the situation probably would have ended quite differently. But with things how they are and the 'Nest visibly subdued, he can't entirely blame him. Still - ]

[- Kimbley is one of his. And when he comes to, there's a few questions that need to be answered. Both for him and for Stocke.]

[First thing's first - ]

[The curves of his claws glide across his thigh, drawing a pck-pck-pck tight-hard leather.] Li's coming in from Bavan tomorrow. Have some business to take care of. [What type of business, though, he doesn't say. But if Stocke's already on the hunt, then, well.]

[No time like the present.]

[Greed's claw grazes the side of the laptop again. One of the keys audibly buckles and the recording goes quiet.]

[No, Greed's right enough. Stocke learned some things from January, but teaching him to take less risks or to sit still and wait for trouble to pass - that'd be a change in his very nature. It'd take something even worse.]

[Did he have a choice? ...well. Yes. There's always a choice. But that's a discussion that'll need to wait until he gets back.]

[He's stuck himself to one trajectory for now.]

[And yet, still... still, something about Kimbley's laughter doesn't sit right with him.]

[It's nothing new that Stocke takes everything on himself without saying, but... Raynie doesn't like to learn about it by running into a public post where he puts a huge target on his back. That's - that's like yelling it in the town's square, or something.]

((Hope this is okay! He was going to ask for Stocke's private channel on his network post but I figured it would be faster to just handwave a thread that would only be one comment. I can tag that post if you'd prefer I do that though, no prob.))

I'm a neutral party, so I don't have a name. But I do have a description of a Fourth follower I believe responsible for the park.
It's a girl, a red gargoyle with shoulder-length pink hair and harp-like wings.
She's definitely a follower and she seemed to know a lot about the situation when I spoke with her.
Unfortunately, I am unable to enter the Fourth's zones, so I couldn't kill her when I encountered her at the park.
But if you've killed several of his followers already, perhaps you will have better luck than I.
I've told rival00 and someone going by sakuratree about her as well, if you know either of them and if you're the type who believes in strength in numbers.

You have my thanks, by the way. Especially if you're the one responsible for freeing the lake.
